THIS FILTHY EARTH THE INSTALLATION
This piece was made as part of a collaboration for an Installation with my brother Joey Kötting for the Gallery L.A.C. - Lieu d'Art Contemporaine in Sigean France.
He had visited me on the set of the film in North Yorkshire and had made a body of work that sat well with a lot of the ideas I couldn’t present in the finished film. I included the clothes that the central cast wore (intended to work as ghosts), as well as a series of 8 photographic dėcoupage of scenes from the film.
Three monitors played Mini DV footage that had been edited specifically for the Installation. Broken down into three elements: Landscape, People and Animals, it was then edited into three separate vhs time lines and presented on three separate monitors within the Gallery space.
I allowed for sound spillage from the original video footage to blend in with some new sound design and music by David Burnand, which was presented through 3 separate sound channels within the rafters of the Gallery space. The work was designed to loop continuously and ran without interruption for the three months of the show.
