IN THE WAKE OF A DEADAD
October – November 2007
INSTALLATION
Dilston Grove, Southwark Park, London.
65 Monitors running along the whole length of the space played looped sequences of various ‘inflations’ that I had made around the world from the Deadad project.
2 inflatable sculptures, also inflated and deflated intermittently throughout the course of the day.
In another anteroom 8 pornographic ‘works’ were also presented. They came about through the chance discovery in the wake of my father’s death of some of my his glamour magazines. They evoked brilliant memories of Narnia and my first sexual awakenings along with a vivid yearning to join in.
There are eight ‘works’ in all and they are presented in pairs or as Digital Diptychs. Through the use of image manipulation technologies I realised my childhood fantasies and quite literally entered the televisual frame whilst alongside a ‘still’ Decoupage (photographic three-dimensional ‘layered’ image), shows a traditionally hand crafted picture of the same scene.
Eden and I also performed at both the opening and closing of the exhibition.
Me in my Deadad suit and Eden in her Day-of-the-Dead skeleton suit.
